Being a vendor in an open Market: 4 keys to success
I am very delighted to announce my participation as a vendor in Ripe market Dubai and Sharjah.
Participating in an open market and being in touch with so many people from different Nationalities was a new experience for me. I had been used to sit – for years – in an isolating office controlling my husband’s company’s financials in Greece. Doing something that simple, like a personal appearance in an event, was a task I had to remind myself of again.
This previous Friday was a chance for me to get out of my shell and get in touch with my perspective clients.
Well, from my first experience I would have to say, that whether someone has the ability to sell or not, people’s responses will guide your steps.
The overall experience was incredible. First of all the location (Jabeel Park) was ideal. Families and young people were arriving in a very friendly and nice mood, to spend their time and do some shopping at the same time. Secondly, I could feel the crowd’s response and trust to me as a person and my products immediately, what they liked and what they didn’t.
In my opinion, 4 factors helped me in this successful venture.
- Be well organized before your participation in an event. Have a check list with things you want to do and what products you want to display.
- Once you are in the market (or in an event) be pleasant and think positively.
- Understand your clients’ needs, pay attention to them consciously and offer the right product. The one that will fulfill their needs. This way you keep your business’s reputation in high standards.
- In case you don’t succeed with the desired results, don’t give up. Remember that good customers always take their time to buy, and they are the ones that will come back year after year.
Generally the experience was so delightful that I am really looking forward to the next ripe market in Dubai (every Friday) and in Sharjah (every Saturday).
